Alene F. Caskey

RICHMOND, Ind. – Alene F. Caskey, age 83, of Richmond, died Monday, December 22, 2014, at Golden Living Center/Golden Rule. Born June 19, 1931, in Coe, Indiana, to Virgil and Elma Corn Fritz, Alene graduated from Spurgeon High School in Pike County, Indiana, in 1950. She had lived in the Wayne County area since 1961 and she was a 1968 graduate of Anderson Beauty College in Richmond. Alene had been a waitress for more than thirty years in Wayne County. She was an active member of VFW Post 1108 and former member of the Eagles Lodge of Richmond. Alene enjoyed Indiana University basketball, quilting, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her children, Deborah (David) Thompson of New Albany, Ohio, D. Frederick (Cathy) Caskey of Richmond, and Vickie C. Thompson of Richmond; grandchildren, Angela Thompson of New Albany, Ohio, Scott Thompson of Gahanna, Ohio, Sarah (David James "D.J.") Effler of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Anthony (Melissa) Caskey of Richmond, Michael (Farrah) Caskey of Richmond, and Lisa Jones of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia (Larry) Clem of Florida and Eva Jewel Baumgartner of Tennessee; brothers, Don (Shirley) Fritz of Lynnville, Indiana, and Alfred Fritz of Lynnville, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, including her sister-in-law, Rosa Fritz. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert F. Caskey who died November 9, 2005; parents; and 10 siblings. Visitation for Alene F. Caskey will be from 12 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Jackson officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown, Indiana.
