Alma Irene Fouts

XENIA, Ohio – Alma Irene Fouts, age 84, formerly of Wayne County, died Friday, January 1, 2016, at her home. Alma was born on January 25, 1931, in Center Township, Wayne County, Indiana, to Kermit Harvey and Pansie Mondaine Plummer King. She was a 1949 graduate of Centerville (Indiana) High School and Elkhart Business University in Elkhart, Indiana. On February 5, 1953, she married Lawrence “Wayne” Fouts. Alma and Wayne lived in Norfolk, Virginia, and the Great Lakes area as a young couple while Wayne was stationed in the U.S. Navy. She was a dental assistant in Richmond, Indiana; secretary at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Illinois; bookkeeper at a building supply in Norfolk, Virginia; and cook in the Xenia, Ohio City Schools. Alma and Wayne moved to Xenia in 1965 and she lived most of her years being a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her children, Richard Jay (Barb) Fouts of Dayton, Ohio, and Cindy (Greg) Oakley of Xenia, Ohio; grandchildren, Richard C. (Amy) Fouts of Cedarville, Ohio, Frank (Melissa) Fouts of Dayton, Ohio, Rosemary Crystal (Jason) Gilmore of Dayton, Ohio, Jaime (Ryan) Rankin of Orlando, Florida, Benjamin L. (Leslie) Oakley of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Sara E. (Nate) Smyth of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Austin, Haley, Taylor Ann, Ryleigh, Frankie, Bailey Mae, Gideon, Sylas, Kieran, and Quinn; sisters, Olive Ann Baker of Economy, Indiana, and Judy Hamm of Richmond, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Eileen King and Peggy King, both of Cambridge City, Indiana; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Wayne” Fouts, who died on September 21, 2011; brothers, Walter and Tom King; sister, Kay Smith; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on her husband’s side of the family. Visitation for Alma Irene Fouts will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Alvey officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
