Arthur R. "Pete" Blansett

Arthur R. Blansett RICHMOND, Ind. - Arthur R. 'Pete' Blansett, age 86, of Richmond, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Reid Hospital. Born May 5, 1923, in Richmond, to Clyde E. and Mabel A. Gilmore Blansett, he was a lifelong resident of this area. Pete was a 1941 graduate of Richmond High School. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Pete worked as a Salesman for Miller Brothers Hardware for 32 years and Kruse Hardware for 15 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church for over 50 years interested in his church activities and serving in many positions. He also was very active with the Boy Scouts for a while serving in a volunteer capacity when ever needed. Pete was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge #196. He was Past President of the Centerville Lions Club and was a charter member and Past Chairman of the Board of the Centerville - Abington Senior Center. Pete enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Linda K. Myers of Muncie, Ind.; two sons, William A. Blansett of Enfield, Connecticut and Jeffrey A. Blansett of Richmond; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Myers, Kimberly McCauley, Sarah Hastings, Matthew Blansett, and Kaitlyn Blansett; 9 great-grandchildren, Lyle and Austin Myers, Logan, Sydney, Gannon, Teague, and Delainey McCauley, and Liam and Jack Hastings; sister, Joyce Morris and her husband Jim of Richmond; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Bettie W. Blansett who died August 21, 2008; and son-in-law, Robert L. Myers who died July 8, 2007. Visitation for Arthur R. 'Pete' Blansett will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville, Indiana. Funeral Service for Arthur R. 'Pete' Blansett will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2009, at the Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Burcham officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with Wayne County Veterans Honor Guard conducting Military Graveside Service.
