Beverly "Billi" Ann Rodefeld

RICHMOND, Ind. – Beverly “Billi” Ann Brooks Rodefeld, age 83, of Richmond, died peacefully, surrounded by her family Friday, October 11, 2013, at Friends Fellowship Community. The youngest of eight children, she was born March 27, 1930, to Carl Clay and Opal Jane Nicholson Brooks. Billi married the love of her life, Charles Allen Rodefeld, June 29, 1950, on Charlie’s family farm. They were married 44 years. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1994. Always known as Billi, she lived her life in Richmond. She attended Riley Elementary and graduated from Richmond High School in 1948. Billi was a former board member of the Wayne County Historical Museum and assisted in overseeing the restoration of the Scott House. She served as a CASA for Wayne County Child Abuse Prevention, was an avid volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed serving as a Study Buddy for Richmond Community Schools. Billi was a Civil War enthusiast and studied Richmond and Wayne County history. She was a genealogist, restored historical homes in Richmond, and built doll houses for her grandchildren. She loved birds, especially cardinals and gold finches that frequented her many bird feeders. She followed Indiana basketball teams, collected antiques, and loved to read. Billi was an artist and enjoyed oil painting. Family was her greatest passion, joy, and delight. She and Charlie loved traveling with their family. She enjoyed many days at Lake George in Coldwater, Michigan, with Charlie, their daughters, and grandchildren. Billi was a dedicated homemaker, loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, a supportive sister, and a great friend. All will miss her kindness and compassion, her advice and wisdom, her sense of humor, and quick wit. Billi is survived by her daughters, Emma Rodefeld Meadows of Zionsville, Indiana, Kem Rodefeld (David) Geier of Richmond, Sara Rodefeld of Nashville, Tennessee, and Casey Rodefeld McPherson of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Charlie (Jami) Geier of Westfield, Indiana, Kelly Meadows of Tampa, Florida, Clint and Lars Ertl of California, Hannah (Kyle) Wilbur of Greenwood, Indiana, Rebecca Meadows of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Matthew McPherson of Bloomington, Indiana; three great-grandsons, Kiptyn, Ezra, and Sawyer Geier; sister, Mildred Gilliland of Liberty, Indiana; several nieces and nephews, including Kathryn Rodefeld Rasmussen; and her life-long friends, Katie Reed and Chris Erbse. In addition to her husband, Charles, and her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Harold, Harlan, and Duane Brooks, and sisters, Roberta Sheffer and Geanell Carman. Visitation for Beverly “Billi” Ann Rodefeld will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
