Donna Lee Graydon King

RICHMOND, IN.- Donna Lee Graydon King, a native of Campbell County, Ky., but most recently of Richmond, Ind., passed away on August 2, 2024, at Ambassador Healthcare of Centerville, Ind., where she had lived in the memory care wing for her final months. Originally from Newport, Ky., she was born December 13, 1937, to Elmer and Ellen Graydon. She graduated from Newport High School in 1955 before joining the administrative staff at the corporate headquarters of Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio. Donna left P&G in 1962 to raise a family, but she returned to the workforce in the 1970s – first in the Fine Arts Department at Northern Kentucky University, where she took undergraduate classes, then a second stint at P&G. She retired from P&G as a corporate buyer of chemicals in 1999. In 1960, Donna married James Harry King, and the two of them moved to Ft. Thomas, Ky. Their son, Timothy “Tim” Allen King, who currently lives in Mason, Ohio, was born in 1965. Three years earlier, their daughter, Susan “Sue” Elizabeth King was born. Sue currently lives in Richmond, Ind., and had been Donna’s caretaker since 2016. In addition to being a homemaker during her years in Kentucky, Donna was a Sunday school teacher at the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Thomas, and a volunteer for several local nonprofits, including the Wayne County Historical Museum in Richmond. She pursued a wide range of hobbies, such as travel with friends and gardening, but she devoted most of her recreational time to artwork, including painting and ceramics. Nothing gave her as much joy as being a grandmother to Charles King (24) of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Sam King (21) of Mason, Ohio, sons of Tim and his wife, Beth. Survivors include her brother, Dennis Graydon of Independence, Ky.; her children, Sue and Tim; her daughter-in-law, Beth; and her grandsons, Charles and Sam. She also is survived by six nieces and nephews: Pam Graydon, Robby Graydon, Sarah Graydon Hiatt, and Bill Jurevic, all of Greater Cincinnati, Wayne Graydon of Maysville, Ky., and Amy Jurevic Sokol of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Stanley Graydon (in 2022); and her sister, Lona Jurevic (in 2023). The family would like to express its gratitude to the dedicated staff at the PACE Center of Richmond, Ind., and the Dementia Unit at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville, Ind. Donna’s last days benefited greatly from their compassionate and devoted care.
