Edith Hahn

RICHMOND, Ind. – Edith Hahn, age 96, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Reid Hospital. Born February 13, 1917, in Brookville, Indiana, to Charles and Mary Bunz Glisson, she lived in Liberty for 50 years and moved to Richmond in 2005. Edith was owner/operator of Hahn’s Jewelry in Liberty since 1947. She worked at First National Bank in Richmond from 1965-1977, served as Union County Treasurer from 1977-1984, and Union County Deputy Treasurer from 1985-1987. Edith was a member of Liberty Town Council; volunteer at McCullough-Hyde Hospital; Girl Scout leader; organized Liberty’s Chapter of Rainbow for Girls, serving as Mother Advisor; and 50 year member of Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron and District Deputy of District 12. She loved playing bridge and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Survivors include her nieces, Sandra (John) Hay of Wilder, Kentucky, Serena Holmlund and Mary (Gary) Fischer, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kathy (Jerry) Patterson of Loveland, Ohio, Jaclyn (James) Holtel of New Palestine, Indiana, Jo Hannah Holmlund of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rita (Terry) Girard of Steator, Illinois, and Dana Lynn Glisson of Rushville, Indiana; nephews, Pehry ( Claudia) Holmlund of Connersville, Indiana, Charles (Beth) Glisson of Naperville, Illinois, Michael Glisson of Streator, Illinois, Robert (Karen) Bishop of Greenfield, Indiana, and Paul (Kay) Bishop of Connersville, Indiana; 28 great-nieces and great-nephews; 27 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Hahn who died in 1963; parents; sisters, Eleanor Holmlund and Evelyn Bishop Ailes; brother, Charles J. Glisson; and two nieces, Betty Holmlund and Patricia Kolesar. Visitation for Edith Hahn will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, 103 East Union Street, Liberty, Indiana, with Rev. Dawn Gold and Pastor David A. Layman officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery, Connersville.
