Evelyn Marie Parker

RICHMOND, Ind. – Evelyn Marie Parker, age 96, of Richmond, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at her home. It is very appropriate that the Lord called Evelyn to her heavenly home on her birthday. Born January 22, 1918, in Richmond, to Clyde W. and Clara Knollenberg Gardner, she was a life-long resident of Richmond. Evelyn was a 1936 graduate of Morton High School. She worked for six years at F&N Lawn Mower Company during World War II and retired in 1983 after 20 years in the Registrar’s Office of Earlham College. Evelyn was a lifetime active member of First English Lutheran Church, 50-year member of Gamma Zeta Chapter, Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, and over 20-year member of Reid Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, serving on the Auxiliary Board. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Wright of Richmond; sons, James W. (Jane) Parker of Farmington, Maine, and Douglas G. (Nancy) Parker of Indianapolis; grandsons, Andrew (Summer) Wright of El Mirage, Arizona and Benjamin (Elise) Parker of Greenfield, Indiana; granddaughters, Stephanie (Greg) Kitchin of Richmond, Jamie (Sean) Quick of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Jerelyn Parker (Kael Jokinen) of Portland, Oregon, Angela (Micah) Johnson of Beech Grove, Indiana, and Kathryn (Brett) Hogle of Indianapolis; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Parker who died in 1963; parents; and sisters, Mary Louise Bradway and Helen Eastman. Visitation for Evelyn Marie Parker will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at First English Lutheran Church, 2727 East Main Street, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church with Pastor Brian Derrer officiating. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery.
