Harry Victor 'Vic' Carter

RICHMOND, Ind. – Harry Victor ‘Vic’ Carter, age 88, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Golden Living Center/Golden Rule. Born October 28, 1927, in Richmond, Indiana, to Harry Lee and Loretta Feeler Carter, Vic was a life-long resident of Richmond. Following his graduation from Richmond High School in1946, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. Vic was employed by Pennsylvania and Conrail Railroads as a fireman and engineer until his retirement in 2006. His passions were outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, golfing, and especially baseball. Always a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, he loved to discuss and debate the greatest players of all time. Survivors include his wife, Georgiana Carter of Dayton, Ohio; sons, Thomas (Diane Baker) of Bloomington, Indiana, David (Sandi) Carter of Fort Myers, Florida, and Lance Carter of Richmond; step-sons, Michael (Katherine) Maher of Montgomery, Texas, and Jason Beemer of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Doug, Autumn, Samantha, Kyle, Ryan, and Monique; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kai, Scarlett, Sophie, Simone, and newborn Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Goldie Pauline Carter; brother, William Carter; numerous aunts and uncles; and a legion of fellow soldiers, who were proud to serve their country. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Golden Living Center/Golden Rule. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the past few months was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and blessing of time we spent with him. A military honor guard service for Harry Victor ‘Vic’ Carter will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Earlham Cemetery Mausoleum, 1101 National Road West, Richmond. The family cordially invites the public and fellow veterans to this special tribute honoring Vic for his life and distinguished service. Entombment will be in Earlham Memorial Mausoleum.
