Herman Keith Mills

CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Herman Keith Mills, age 81, of Centerville, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Reid Hospital after a two year illness. He was born February 2, 1930, in Lynn, Indiana, to Claude E. and Myrtle Shook Mills. Herman was an Air Force veteran, a business owner of Mills Furniture and Floor Covering, and a school bus driver for Cambridge City Schools. He was a 1949 graduate and class president of Lynn High School and was a resident of Cambridge City for 27 years and Centerville for 13 years. Mr. Mills was a member of the Hiram Lodge #417, F. & A.M. and former member of Cambridge City Kiwanis. He retired from Richmond State Hospital as a Security Officer in 1993. Herman loved baseball and coached Little League for many years. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn June Mills, to whom he was married on February 2, 1951, having just celebrated their 60th year anniversary this past February; two daughters, Lisa Ann (Philip) Martens of Franklin, Tennessee and Linda Diana (Bob) Birnie of Belle River, Ontario, Canada; one son, David Keith (Sheri) Mills of Connersville; grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Snyder, Ashley Mills, Shane Mills, Sam Mills, Angela (Rob) Birnie, Dana (Jason) Lean, Kristen Martens, Amanda Birnie, and MacKenzi Mills; great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Evan Snyder, Erica Foley, and Daxin Lean; sisters, Lorene Himebaugh, Eula Fay Bower, Wanda Mae Bowman, Joan Huffman, Barbara Maner, and Judy Hansen; brothers, Larry Mills and Max Mills; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Myrtle Mills, and brothers, Edwin, Ivan, Lloyd, and Leland Mills. Visitation for Herman Keith Mills will be from 2 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville, Indiana followed by a Masonic Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Bowlby officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, where there is to be a Military Graveside Service provided by the Wayne County Memorial Veteran’s Council.
