RICHMOND, Ind. – James L. “Jim” Robinson, age 72, of Richmond, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at his home. He was born August 4, 1934, in Richmond to Charles and Cordia Barker Robinson and was a lifelong resident of this community. Jim attended Richmond High School and served with the Indiana National Guard. He worked for 20 years for the former Smith-Esteb Home, for D&M Manufacturing/Sanyo, and retired from Kemper Cabinets in 1997. He was as an associate member of the Knights of St. John. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling, camping and boating with his family and friends. Jim loved sports, including IU Basketball. Survivors include his wife, Shirley McFarland Robinson, to whom he was married August 12, 1955; son, Ron Robinson and wife Debbie of Fountain City; daughter, Kathy Jack and husband Steve of Richmond; children from previous marriage, James Craft of Tennessee and Karen Thiede and husband Ted of Centerville; grandchildren, Camille Robinson, Corrie Wright, Candice Robinson, Robbie Jack and Allison Jack; stepgrandson, Shawn Dixon and wife Amy of Fountain City; stepgreat-granddaughter, Madelynn Dixon; sister, Louise Baldwin and husband Clyde of Richmond; uncle, Paul Craft of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends including special friends, Roy Patton and wife Diane of Richmond. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah K. Robinson Wright; his parents; sister, Betty June Goodwin; brother, Jack Robinson; and special aunt, Francis Craft. Funeral service for James L. “Jim” Robinson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with Chaplain David Garman officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Centerville. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the funeral home.
