Keith Aaron Dilworth

RICHMOND, Ind. – Keith Aaron Dilworth, age 79, of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, December 30, 2022, at Reid Health after a courageous battle, surrounded by his wife and sons. Born October 19, 1943, in Fort Recovery, Ohio, Keith lived in Richmond most of his adult life. He graduated from Ball State and then earned a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1972. Thereafter, he was an attorney in Richmond for many years, until he began serving as Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Randolph County beginning in 1999, before retiring a few years ago. He was a member of the VFW, Richmond Lions Club, and the Richmond Conservation Club. Keith served in Vietnam in 1968 – 1969, as a First Lieutenant in the 19th Combat Engineer Battalion, A Company, 73rd Engineering Company. In recent years, he was active in reunion and documentation events for members of the 19th, serving as president of the association in 2020 and 2021 and helping build a memorial website for the battalion:19engrvn.org. He was a man of limitless talent, and the fruits of his creative labor include woodcarvings, stained-glass, model airplanes that he flew, and many useful and inventive home improvements for himself and others, that will whisper echoes of his life and presence for generations to come. He and longtime friend, Fred Adelsperger, worked together for many years restoring and fixing cars. Keith was a great lover of sports cars. He was also an animal lover. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rena Dilworth; sons, Matthew Dilworth and Benjamin (Lori) Dilworth; grandchildren, Hannah and Olivia; sister, Portia Halterman of Portland, Indiana; brother, Kirk Dilworth of Fort Recovery, Ohio; nieces; nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Patsy, Kent, and Kevin Dilworth. Visitation for Keith Aaron Dilworth will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Spon officiating.
