Kenneth Jay "Kenny" Stanley

RICHMOND, Ind. - Kenneth Jay 'Kenny' Stanley, age 90, of Richmond and formerly of Round Barn Road North, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Friends Fellowship Community. Born Aug. 8, 1917, in Centerville to Wayne H. and Irene E. Wolke Stanley, he was a lifelong resident of Wayne County. After the death of their young parents, Kenny and his siblings were raised by their Aunt Anna and Elmer Jackson of Centerville. Kenny was a 1935 graduate of Centerville High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. Kenny was a car salesman for Bowen's Oldsmobile for over 30 years until his retirement in 1979. Kenny was a 57-year member of the American Legion Post 287 in Centerville. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and following the Pacers, IU Basketball and the Indianapolis 500. He and his wife enjoyed trips to Las Vegas. Kenny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His granddaughter, Casey, called him 'Cacker', and the name stayed with him. He loved visits and daily phone calls from his family. Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Ann 'Patty' Franklin and husband Mark of Kokomo, Ind.; granddaughter, Casey Matczak and husband Todd of Indianapolis; grandson, Corey Franklin and wife Amy of McCordsville; great-grandson, Jack Matczak of Indianapolis; special niece, Sandy Wolff and husband John of Stone Mountain, Ga.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Josephine 'Jo' Coffin Stanley who died Dec. 10, 2002; brother, Julian L. Stanley; and sister, Irene E. Rogers. Funeral service for Kenneth Stanley will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with Chaplain Maureen McCarthy officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Centerville, Ind. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
