Marcelle Worch

RICHMOND, Ind. – Marcelle Longworth Worch began her life in Fonde, Kentucky, on July 22, 1933. Born to Curtis and Mabel Longworth, the family moved shortly thereafter to nearby Middlesboro, where she spent most of her childhood. A little over a year after her graduation from the local high school, the man in whom she found love proposed and they were wed in October of 1952. Ray and Marcelle experienced a lifetime of joy and happiness. From the start of their family, with the birth of their two sons, Michael and Steve, to the blessing of their five grandsons, Steven, Derek, Kelsey, Josh, and Jarrett, the commitment they made that one fall continued for six decades. In marriage, they found special ways to display their love for each other. Instead of pouring two cups of coffee, one for her and one for Ray, they always opted to share the same cup–much in the way in which they shared life. Raising a family was Marcelle’s greatest joy and much of her delight was derived from the happiness experienced by her boys. Michael and Steve hosted many of the neighborhood kids for games of wiffleball, basketball, and football. From the kitchen window, a mother watched dotingly as her boys grew up. A similar scene would happen in much the same way when her grandsons would occupy the yard and house many years later. While staying the night, the grandsons slept not in a bed, nor on a couch; they were lined-up on the floor by age–right where she wanted them. Marcelle passed suddenly, in the presence of her family and into the welcoming arms of the Lord, on October 6, 2017. A person who truly enjoyed the company of others, she formed close friendships and participated in monthly card games when she moved to Indiana. A month ago, Marcelle mentioned that only three of the original group remained. Today, with her passing, the number now stands at two. In more recent years, she greatly appreciated and looked forward to lunch dates to catch-up and reminisce with her daughter-in-law, Linda. With a life spanning 84 years, she touched and moved all who knew her. She will be missed by her sons, Michael (Linda) Worch and Steve (Barbie Haney) Worch, both of Richmond; five grandsons, Derek Worch, Steven (Brittany) Worch, and Jarrett Worch, all of Richmond, Dr. Joshua (Anna) Worch of Kenilworth, England, and Kelsey Worch of Everett, Washington; sister, Lavenda (Kenneth) Collins of Middlesboro, Kentucky; brother, Gail Longworth of Tampa, Florida; sister-in-law, Marlene Longworth of Corona, California; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, including childhood friend, Bobby Roberts of Savannah, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray J. Worch, who died on June 21, 2013; parents; brother, R.L. Longworth; niece; and nephew. Private services for Marcelle Worch will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
