Patricia Louise Cain

RICHMOND, Ind. – Patricia Louise Cain, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017. Ecclesiastes 3:4 comforts us as her time to mourn is no more, it is time to dance. She will weep no more, but laugh with her heavenly Father and her friend and husband, Dick. Pat was born March 7, 1932, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the only child of Earl and Ruby Gaiser Souers. She graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as a registered nurse. Pat’s passion and career with Public Health Nursing of Wayne County served many people for 20 years. Some may remember her as the school nurse at Pleasant View Junior High School. Pat retired in 1987. She was a member of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church in Richmond, where she served funeral dinners, along with many dear friends, to many people during their time of grief. Pat was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was awarded the Order of the Rose degree and Silver Circle degree. She enjoyed the fellowship and service they sought with passion. During her tenure, Pat was also awarded Woman of the Year. Her dedication brought the beginning of “Vials of Life” with the help of her sorority sisters and Reid Health. Pat leaves to cherish many wonderful memories and funny stories through her children, Cindy (Jim) Swardenski of Modoc, Indiana, Sam (Julie) Cain of Louisville, Kentucky, and Dan (Julie) Cain of Tallapoosa, Georgia. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who adored her as “Grandma Tickle”. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Richard Eugene “Dick” Cain, who passed away in 1984; infant son, Michael Eugene Cain; and infant great-grandson, Eben Ohime. Visitation for Patricia Louise Cain will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 North U.S. 27, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the church with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
