Raymond Dean "Dean-O" Bishop

RICHMOND, Ind. - Raymond Dean "Dean-O" Bishop, age 79, of Richmond, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 4, 2016, at his home. Born July 14, 1936, in Richmond, Indiana, to Lester and Anna Siron Bishop, Dean graduated from Richmond High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Dean graduated from the Purdue Exterminating School and attended classes at Ivy Tech. He retired as Lieutenant from the Richmond Fire Department after over 20 years of service. Dean also worked at Earlywine Pest Control and Rogers Termite and Pest Control, and he later started All Pest Exterminating. He loved people and greatly enjoyed servicing his clients. Dean idolized and admired John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, James Dean, and Billy Graham. Dean was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond, Fireman's Breakfast, and First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed grilling at Earlham College football games, mentoring youth at Dennis Middle School, and volunteering at Help the Animals. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Duke basketball, Northeastern basketball, and sports of all kinds. He faithfully watched Bill O'Reilly and enjoyed going to casinos. Dean was a very out-going and caring man, helping people in all ways that he could. He never met a stranger. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sue Ann Hollingsworth Bishop; daughter, Gayle Ann Bishop; grandchildren, LaTosha, Darcy, and Dillon Bishop, Tiffany Taylor and her daughter Mia Marie, and Zachary Taylor, all of Richmond; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Dorothy (Dale) Knarzer of Richmond; brothers, William D. Bishop and Thomas R. Bishop and his special friend Peggy, all of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; many friends including Melissa Ervin of Richmond; brother-in-law, Bill (Wanda) Hollingsworth of Richmond; and two loving pets, Babe and Marley. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Dean Bishop; brother, Jerry J. Bishop; and father and mother-in-law, Denver and Mae Hollingsworth. Visitation for Raymond Dean "Dean-O" Bishop will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Chalk officiating.
