Roger A. Grimm

RICHMOND, Ind. – Roger A. Grimm, age 82, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, February 26, 2018, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born August 30, 1935, in Richmond, Indiana, to Loren J. and Flora Roll Grimm, Roger was a life-long resident of this community. He was a 1953 graduate of Richmond High School and a 1955 graduate of General Motors Institute. Roger served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. Roger was the Owner/President of Grimm Pontiac, Buick, GMC of Winchester, Indiana. He loved the automobile business. Roger worked his way up through the car dealership; employed in nearly every capacity from pumping gas to sales manager. In 1976, he was given the opportunity to own and operate his own dealership in Winchester. In 2000, Roger was honored with Time Magazine’s Quality Dealer Award for outstanding performance as an automobile dealer and a valued citizen of his community. Roger was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a former board member of Forest Hills Country Club. He was a member of Webb Lodge No. 24, F. & A.M. At one time or another, Roger held leadership positions in the Winchester Chamber of Commerce and the Winchester YMCA. He loved to help out his community. Most recently, Roger was writing short biographies for the Friends Fellowship Community newsletter. Roger loved playing golf. He played it whenever the weather permitted. Golf was another avenue for Roger to connect with family and friends. His favorite vacation spot was Sanibel Island, Florida. Roger loved walking to the lighthouse and watching for dolphins. Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Charles) Naber, Sharon (Bryan) Boggs, and Carol (Chris) Plopper, all of Zionsville, Indiana; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by the beautiful, loving mother of his girls and his wife of 34 years, Marilyn Foster Grimm; parents; sisters, Marilyn Conti and Janet O’Shaunasy; brother, Loren Mike Grimm; and second wife, Marcia Hayes Grimm. A memorial visitation for Roger A. Grimm will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church, 1425 East Main Street, Richmond with Pastor Tom Ream officiating. Private burial will be in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester, Indiana.
