Webster "Web" Foster Hall

RICHMOND, Ind. – Webster (Web) Foster Hall passed away on July 20, 2023, at Friends Fellowship, Richmond, Indiana, after a long and active life. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 2, 1925. While living in Royal Oak, Michigan, he met Dorothie (Dottie) Hall, who became his loving wife of 72 years. His 98 years of life were filled with family, work, service, and adventure. Upon graduating from Lincoln High School (Ferndale, Michigan) in 1943, he joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Antietam until his honorable discharge in 1946. He then attended the University of Michigan and earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. After working at various companies in Detroit and Cincinnati, he and his family moved to Richmond in 1964 where he worked in engineering and sales management positions at NATCO until he founded his own consulting business in 1977. Family was always first, and he worked hard during his long, successful career to provide for his family. He was always eager to help with school projects or with after-school activities. He was so proud of his children’s accomplishments. Family time was important, and the family made many trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and down to Florida. Later in life, he and Dottie spent a couple of months each winter in Florida where family was always welcome. Always the adventurers, Web and Dottie traveled to many places in this country, in Canada and across the world. Nothing was beyond them including trips to Rome, polar bear watching in Canada, river cruises in Europe, and photo safaris in Africa. While visiting exotic places was fun for them, visiting family (particularly grandchildren) was always a priority. Web and Dottie took their extended family on multiple reunions to Mexico – thus fostering family unity. Their love of travel inspired their children to also explore the world. In addition to family and work, he was active in various civic groups and local organizations including the Boy Scouts (he was an Eagle Scout) and the Boys and Girls Club. He was a member of Forest Hills Country Club for many decades. He was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for 30 years. His love of aviation and flying is well known. He was an instrument rated pilot and flew across the continent, including the Bahamas, Mexico, and Hawaii. His map showing his different flights across the country was impressive. In his spare time, he was an avid stamp collector and traveled to many stamp conventions. He also loved playing bridge and being with friends. He is survived by their three children, Linda (Charles) Borrenpohl, Ralph Hall, and Pam (Andrew) Howard; nine grandchildren, Krista (Craig) Lenzmeier, Craig (Teresa) Borrenpohl, Tracy Braun (Elizabeth Adams), Mike Braun, Stephanie Hall (John Koolage), Diane Hall, Emma Howard-Young (Jordan), Natalie Howard, and Lauren Howard; and nine great grandchildren. Web was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Delma Hall and his wife, Dottie. While he will be deeply missed, he will not be forgotten. Services for Webster Hall will be private.
